history: Aisling, a native of Venice, has always known about her destiny: it's just always been a fact of her life, and she barely remembers how she learned of this: as far as she can piece together, it was simply a bit of lore passed down in her family, legacy of an ancestor who could see the future. However, it didn't seem to matter to her that she would someday be in this battle: if it was going to happen, it was going to happen, and there was absolutely nothing she could do about it. Therefore, the only thing she *could* do about it was keep her chin up and face it calmly.

At a young age, she and her cousin, Alexander Sage, who she was fairly close to (and they were rather alike, both in age and personality, two birds of a feather) were apprenticed to a highly respected practitioner of Hermetic magic, Lissandra Fiori, who lived in Rome at the time, though she was also a Venetian native: Aisling because of her destiny, Alexander because it was hoped that the rigorous discipline of the style of magic would give him some control over the fits and visions he kept having. At the suggestion of Lissandra, Aisling took up fencing, both to give herself some fighting skill, and because a sword would make an effective focus. Even though both she and her cousin proved to be talented at Hermetic magic, it was impossible to help him gain control over his Dreamseer powers: he lapsed into a coma soon after his sixteenth birthday, too out of control to ever wake again, to ever speak of what he had seen, locked somewhere in his own mind where no one can ever touch, lost, gone, even beyond the reach of another with his power. Gone, forever, and there would be no coming back: dead but never dying, not yet, trapped in a spiral of life-that-was-not-life.

Grief-stricken at the loss of her cousin, who had been her best friend, Aisling threw herself even more into her studies: she, even after Lissandra told her that she had nothing more to teach her and left for Venice again, remained in Rome, studying at the University of Rome, preparing for when the battle-lines for the last battle would be drawn. She still visits her cousin in the hospital where he has been for years: the loss of her cousin has embittered her against Dreamseers in general, for it was that talent that cost Alexander his life ((even though he's still technically alive)). Her cousin has become a symbol of what she fights for: those who are helpless to do anything, helpless to save themselves.

Vera, the Kamui of Rome, chose to become a Seal, forcing her Gemini, Benedict, to become an Angel. However, during the meeting, Aisling was not impressed with either Vera's impulsive, irrational temper nor her spiteful words. In addition, Benedict reminded her very strongly of her lost cousin, and she hoped somewhere deep inside that he would become a Seal.

Now that hope is lost, and it is as if she has lost her cousin again. It does not help that with the help of Adrian, a Dreamseer of Cairo, Alexander was brought out of the dreaming he was trapped in, though he remains comatose: though he can communicate with Aisling through dreams, he is mad.

Update: Alexander is dead: he died New Years' Day, by Aisling's own hand. With the loss of her cousin, she lost both her ability to summon her kekkai and her will to fight as a Seal.
Personality: Businesslike, resolute, and calm (most of the time), Aisling is a woman who can seem to be made of steel and ice. She seems to have a lazy demeanor: however, that demeanor is simply an act, as she keeps a very close watch over what's around her. Extremely efficient, Aisling is not fond of wasting time friviously, though she is scarcely what you call impatient: rather, she is quite methodical in her approach to life. Unfortunately for all involved, Aisling does have an infamous temper: she doesn't lose it often, but when she does, watch out. She is extremely polite, even when being insulting, and is quite good at veiled threats.

update: Aisling, since the death of her cousin, has been deeply depressed and lost. Even though she is not insane, she is somewhat broken, though will not show it.
Appearance: Tall-around 5'10"-slender, and graceful from years of fencing, Aisling has blue-black hair to her waist, usually pulled up in a neat bun: it was recently lengthened due to a Hermetic ritual. Pretty, in a reserved manner, she dresses in long-sleeved, ankle-length plain dresses, either black or, in a change recently, white, with a small silver crucifix around her neck and a hidden pendant of the Solomon's Seal around her neck. She is elegant of carriage and straight of posture, every movement of her body graceful and showing her keen discipline. ((not real. RP journal.
